ரசாயன உரம் பற்றி இயற்கை வேளான் விஞ்ஞானி நம்மாழ்வார் கூறியது :
"இரண்டாம் உலகப் போருக்கு பின், பல பன்னாட்டு நிறுவனங்களில் விற்காத வெடிகுண்டுகளின் மூலபொருளான அமோனியா முதலான ரசாயனக் கலவைகளை விற்றுப் பணமாக்க அதே ரசாயனம் மூலம் உற்பத்தியைப் பெருக்கலாம் என்ற கருத்தாக்கத்தை வேளாண் உலகில் உலகெங்கும் விதைத்த காலம் முதல் இந்தியாவின் வேளாண்மை கடன்கராத் தொழிலாயிற்று".

Indian organic farming scientist G. Nammalvar once quoted artificial fertilizers like below :
" After Second World war, many multinational companies, to sell their unsold products like ammonia etc which are once sources of explosives in war time, advertise them as the manure/fertilizers to increase the production in Agriculture. From that day, Agriculture in India changed to debtor business"
